I chose the SF Bay Area as one of the locations because that’s where I grew up and met my husband working for a restaurant group in Yountville, CA. As a Thomas Keller Alumni, I learned that you’re not just having a meal, you’re creating an experience for someone. You’re making memories.
Maui has a special place in my heart, so it makes sense that one of our trips is to there. Not only did I grow up going once a year to Maui, I also have done some therapeutic and cathartic ceremonies on the islands. I had twin boys who were born prematurely and passed away. I did a traditional ash scattering for them. I didn't realize how much closure a trip like that would be for me.
